...the home of the Kolibri...

Finally we managed to record some short video clips of model aircraft powered by the Kolibri.

Multiplex TwinJet: Detailed engine start to show how troublefree it is to operate an engine without full automatic start system. Then hand launch and finally landing with engine shut down. This is neccessary with this plane, otherwise the residual thrust of the engine would make the final so long that it would be merely impossible to land spot-on.

HET F20 Tigershark: Maiden flight of this very slender aircraft. Even though the wing span is just 80cm and it’s comparably heavy at 1.8kg, this plane flies really well. It will even fly quite slow and doesn’t show any tendency to stall unexpectedly. If it gets too slow, it just loses altitude without changing its attitude. The fixed undercarriage that had been mounted for testing even permits starts from unpaved runways. Nice! Unfortunately this model was lost after the video had been recorded, probably due to a malfunction of one of the aileron servos. Yet, the engine and most of the R/C equipment survived undamaged. This also shows that the small weight of the engine and the other components protects them even in the event of a crash. So there will be another F20 ready very soon, this time probably in the red/white colour scheme of the Swiss Airforce aerobatics team.
